We work with the leaders, women and men
of people's organizations and barangays to
form a community of
leaders and learners who develop
their skills in communications, negotiations
and conflict resolution, human relations and
indigenous psychology and popular education
to promote participatory local governance
and sustainable development.
Our educational methods are inspired
among others, by ideas and experiences of
Grundtvig and the
folkehojskole.

Education for
Life Foundation logo
Philippine-Danish
Folkschool logo
The circle is the symbol of the Education for Life
Foundation, or ELF. Everything in the logo represents the elements of life. Such
as air, water, earth, fire and all living things. They all stand for our
spirituality, our relationship with all else and with God. Malakas and Maganda are there to symbolize ELF's advocacy for gender equality. The flame
represents our fire-feelings, our emotions, commitments and convictions. The
crescent represents the sun and the moon, night and day. The letter in the
center of the rays is the letter "K" which stands for Kalayaan or
freedom. The eye in the triangle means wisdom. The flame is the flame of
knowledge and love.
