Biyaheng Ayta

Biyaheng Ayta is an educational and advocacy project of Paaralang Bayan ng mga Ayta ng Zambales (PBAZ). Ayta leaders, educators, and artists travel to Ayta communities in Zambales for a one day program of workshops ending with a theater presentation of Hundang.

Hundang... about plays, characters, etc.

This play is derived from the folklores and present stories of the Aetas of Zambales.

The story of the play "Hundang" is about those who are looking for the real meaning of being an indigenous and being a Filipino in the present situation.

This is the story of Gayang - the big stone that sits on the top of Mt. Pinatubo. According to the elders, the gayang is the residence of the spirit of Apo Namalyari who guides and takes care of the man and the environment against danger.

Another story here is about Binangunan - the monster who scares and brought terror to the people of the community.

This is also the story about the magic of Hundang (bolo) which is believed to cure the people who gets sick or being cursed because of a sin or were abusing the environment that is left by Apo Namalyari as a legacy.

Aside from the stories of Gayang, Binangunan and Hundang, the stories of Bayabay and Balu-akan were also included in order to give more importance on this folklore in relation with the present life of the Aetas.

Pangkat Kurekete

Pangkat Kurekete was the name chosen by the Aetas who were part of the play, wherein most of them were youths who can't continue their studies. Joining in the play is a new experience and a new level of learning for them.
